The Altus Award was created in 2016 by The Altus Group, a financial partnership whose members specialize in financial products designed for a robust retirement. The first recipient of the award was Gov. Gary Herbert for his work in making Utah the most fiscally sound state in the country. Gov. Herbert accepted the award at the company’s fall client appreciation event on October 3, 2016. He graciously accepted “on behalf of all the Utah citizens who have worked to make Utah ‘The 2016 Best Place for Business by CNBC.’” He added that Utah also incorporates financial literacy in Utah’s education system and has a AAA bond rating.
