Delectable Dining: Best meals of 2016

r As we begin a new year, I wanted to take a look back at some highlights of 2016.rFiesta Catering/V Sisters Homemade Creations blew me away with their homemade, delicious meals that you can pick up for dinner. My favorite was the pesto grilled chicken sandwich on herb focaccia bread. Every ingredient was fresh and made from scratch. That’s kind of their style of food. They also have tons of delicious sweet treats like cookies, cinnamon rolls, cake and anything else you can imagine. I also love them for their gift baskets and cookie kits.

To learn more, like their Facebook page at V Sisters Homemade Creations/Fiesta Catering or check out their webpage at www.vsisterscreations.com. Prices and pickup times are listed online. They are located at 333 N. Apple View Drive, Santaquin. Their kitchen and shop are located at the back of the house.

Dalton’s Steakhouse has some pretty amazing prime rib, but I also found some new favorites. Chicken Marsala was divine with the creamy sauce (with bacon) and sautéed mushrooms. It went well with the creamy mashed potatoes. The desserts were another highlight. I fell in love with the Lemon Lush with its crushed nut crust and tart, creamy lemon cream. So yummy. They also have some great pies.rDalton’s Steakhouse is located at 20 S. 100 West in Payson. Their lunch hours are Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturdays from noon to 2 p.m. Their dinner hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 4 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. They are closed Sundays.

Pier 49 Pizza was just the ultimate pizza. Delicious fresh toppings and amazing combinations. My favorite was the Nob Hill: garlic alfredo sauce, mushrooms, green onion, chicken, and fresh tomatoes on that sourdough crust. Wow. I am not an alfredo person. Marinara all the way. But this pizza is just perfection. Another favorite was the dessert pizza, strawberry streusel. Strawberries and a sweet glaze on that sourdough crust. It sounds relatively simple, but the flavor really is divine. Pier 49 Pizza is located at 296 S. Main in Springville. They are open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Magleby’s. I still am not sure how I went to Magleby’s for so many years without knowing about their epic buffets. A recap. Weekly buffets are every Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The monthly dinner buffet is held on the last Friday of the month and reservations are recommended. The dinner buffet has the legendary seafood with snow crab legs, shrimp and a variety of salmon. Everything is tantalizingly delicious thanks to the creativity of the restaurant’s head chef Kuldeep Singh. My favorites were the portobello mushroom ravioli and the almond-crusted salmon with the mango and basil chutney. My mouth is watering just writing about this food. And then you have the dessert table with all-you-can-eat Magleby’s chocolate cake, seasonal cakes and desserts and – my favorite – the bread pudding made from Magleby’s chocolate cake. The dinner buffet has about 16 items including appetizers. The lunch buffet is more manageable with about 10 items. Both are necessary life experiences. Magleby’s is located at 198 S. Main in Springville. They are open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Italian Place was a favorite because of their sandwiches that epitomized what a Philly cheesesteak should be. Mmmmm. I got the Philly and Everything and it had delicious steak, cream cheese, sautéed onions, mushrooms, green peppers and tomatoes. Wow. So creamy and just perfect. Combine that with chips and a drink and you are set. They also offer a variety of other sandwiches, as well as salads. The Spanish Fork Italian Place is located at 749 N. Main in Spanish Fork. They are open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.rSo there are the highlights of last year. I am officially hungry now. Can’t wait to see what 2017 will bring.
