Community Action Services holds 2017 Souper Bowl of Caring Kick-off

Community Action Services and Food Bank (CASFB) will hold their Souper Bowl of Caring kick-off meeting for all Middle School, Junior High, and High School student leaders in the county on Tuesday, November 7, 2015 from 3:30 to 4:30.

The meeting will be held at CASFB offices at 815 S. Freedom Blvd in Provo, Utah.rStudent Body Presidencies and youth leaders from various clubs at their schools are welcome to attend.

David James, sportscaster from Channel 2 News, will be at the meeting to further explain the program and to challenge the youth in their individual campaign efforts. David James has long been a supporter of the Souper Bowl of Caring which began in 1990 in South Carolina and youth collected canned food and dollars in soup pots, and then sent every dollar directly to a local charity of their choice.

Since then, over $90 million dollars have been collected for soup kitchens, food banks, and other charities across the county. This is a wonderful opportunity for students at each participating school to decide how best to help the hungry in their community. Canned food can be collected at each location, and cash donations can be sent to CASFB through each school’s board or foundation.

Community Action Services and Food Bank is a non-profit agency that dispersed over 4.5 million pounds of food last year. 92 cents of every dollar goes to direct services. With the coming holiday season, CASFB is proud to sponsor the Souper Bowl of Caring in Utah County.

Actual dates will be determined by each group participating, but correspond to the Super Bowl on Feb 4, 2018. Provo and Nebo School Districts have committed to participating. Alpine School District and all Charter Schools have also been invited.
