It’s pre-summer community theater season!

Lights, curtains, and jazz hands, oh my! It’s that time of year again (drumroll please!) pre- summer community theater season! Yes it’s a mouthful, but it works. This is the time of year where the local performance communities gather the most talented performers, directors and stage crews to put on amazing performances as beautiful and unique as the exceptional communities they call home. If you’d like to get involved in one of these fun productions, or just want a heads up on what productions are in the works to help plan your summer, here is a list of what’s up-and-coming for the summer theater season.
Spanish Fork Community Theater will be putting on the wildly funny musical sensation
Spongebob The Musical. Auditions will take place April 17-19 from 6-8 p.m. and April 20 from 9 a.m. to noon at Diamond Fork Junior High. Performances will be during the annual Fiesta Days celebration in July. Come hang out in Bikini Bottom with your favorite cast of aquatic characters in this lively comedy musical. Springville Playhouse is putting on the production She Loves Me in June at Merit Academy. This heartwarming, romantic musical is sure to leave you full of warm fuzzies. Visit springvilleplayhouse.com for ticketing and other information.
Payson Community Theater is putting on the enchanting musical, The Secret Garden. Auditions are scheduled for April 25, and 26 with performances taking place during the annual Golden Onion Days celebration. Salem Community Theater will be putting on the lovely classic Little Women. This production that is based on the famous Austen novel is sure to be a delight. Angelus Theatre has several shows lined up for this summer including The Lady of Sherwood, which is a Robin Hood inspired musical slated to run from June 3 – 15. There will also be Gerd and the Goose Girl, which is a brand new musical set to run from July 5 – 13. These shows are sure to be full of fantastic music and family friendly fun.
